Tobago Honeymoon

I am considering planning a honeymoon to Tobago in late September/early October of 1999. After reading all the previous posts (and through all my other research) it sounds like a great secluded island getaway. However, I do have a couple questions that I would appreciate any input on:
First, what is the weather like at that time - I know it is the "rainy season", but does that mean a short downpour in the afternoons, or days of rain?
Second, I am considering the Grafton Beach or Grand Courlan - anybody been to either?
Third, has anyone taken the ferry from Port-of-Spain to Tobago or vice/versa? I am considering a day trip or two day trip to Trinidad as part of the vacation.
Finally, does anyone have any knowledge of fishing trips available from either Tobago or Trinidad - both my fiance and I love to fish.
I would also appreciate any additional tips or advice! Thanks for your time!
Miguel.

hi, I was wondering how your trip went. We are planning to go to trinidad and tobago in oct 2000. (I know its the rainy/hurricaine season, but the tickets are free and we have to use them between sept and dec 2000). I am hoping to find out how your trip went. How was the weather, the people, activities/sites and especially the food. We were hoping that the island is far enough south to avoid any hurricaines. But otherwise have heard many good things about the islands and the people. We really want to go somewhere that is not too touristy (or too expensive!). Hope that you, or someone else who has been there can give us more info.

thanks much, mel

hi, we've never been there. We're wondering the same things! I do hope somebody let's us know something. Our honeymoon is planned for early May 2001. We wanted ritzy, but not too expensive. Relaxing, but things to do. Rooms right off the beach, where you step out of your room and onto the beach. And does anyone know if there are any villas?
Replies would be much appreciated

There are some nice villas at The Blue Waters Inn on a private beach. There are also some new villas around Crown Point but I'm not sure that they are on a beach.

I just got a brochure on the Coco Reef Resort -- it looks very nice and I think it has only been open about five years. I am also interested in more info from anyone who has been to Tobago!

Conrado Beach resort IS not the place for a honeymoon, it's a BUDGET hotel at BEST.

CocoReef is very nice, one of the best in The Crown Point Area the only drawback is the "manmade" beach, in that the beach at Store Bay has been blocked in by boulders to create a small pool like beach infront of this hotel.DOn't worry though Store Bay is right next door and Pigeon Point is less than 5 mins away.

If you don't mind being off route and a bit secluded the Tobago Hilton is fantastic!! The beach it is on not the best in Tobago, but the rooms and the pool are fantastic. And they have a daily shuttle to Pigeon Point.

There are some FABULOUS villas for rent in the Mount Irvine area,Plantation Beach Villas, Stonehaven Villas.

As an alternative if you are looking for nice small hotels that are not ON the beach look into Kairwak Village and Toucan Inn.
