My husband and I visited Provo a couple of years ago and loved it. Excellent diving.... (not Little Cayman or Maui... but very good!)
You go there because you appreciate the pristine nature of the island. It never feels crowded like Barbados, St. Thomas or Grand Cayman.... If you are looking for something truly upscale with more to do... go to the Caymans... if you are looking for something greener, upscale with great beaches, minimal poverty, lots of places to drive around to see... go to St John USVI....
If you want it all.... go to Kauai or Maui!

p.s. We liked T&C so much that we're going back this year with our baby..... a great place to beach and relax with a youngster who is too young to want to do a ton of resorty things....
Also.... for traveling families.... just read a terrible review of Beaches in T&C.... childcare and services were highly criticized....
