Thinking about St. Lucia
 

My wife and I are planning a trip in June along with our children ages 23 & 16. We would prefer an island that has something to offer for all of us. We are considering St. Lucia because of the forest, snorkeling, beaches, and horseback riding which we understand are all great. What we would like to know is what else is available and adviseable. If bugs are a problem, which hotels have AC that are still located on the beach. We really don't want to use nets to sleep under. What about nightlife? What's the best way to get around? What about condo style suites with seperate bedrooms and a kitchen? What are the must see and must avoid attractions? Is there a better island for us to consider? Jalousie Hilton is located right on the beach and has air conditioning. It is in a fantastic location with a beautiful beach and lots of activities -- tennis, snorkeling, scuba, boating, etc. We stayed at a nearby resort (Ladera -- not on the beach) but went to the beach at Jalousie several times. It is lovely and the food there is good. It is expensive though. You can do a search of this forum using the word "Jalousie" and you will bring up old threads that may be helpful.

hi, in response to the biting bugs- there are none, you can sleep without nets. Stayed at the Rex st lucian, right on the loveley beach ,if a little busy. In April the landcape looked parched, a bit disapointing. <BR>

Just got back from St. Lucia, specifically Anse Chastenet. We needed the netting every night. Made the mistake of not using it the first night and had red bumps on my face, hands and arms for the entire week. Also, nothing like a mosquito or some other unidentified bug buzzing in your ear in the middle of the night!
