Things to do outside the resort...
 
My friend and I are leaving Thursday for Sunscape resort (all-inclusive) in the Dominican Republic. I am looking to get some information on things to do outside of the resort. I realize there are several excursions, but typically they are pricey. Is it possible to take a taxi to certain areas to and see more ? Any suggestions ?

Unless you are VERY fluent in Spanish, I would stick to excursions in the DR.
The DR is NOT like Mexico - very few people outside of the resort speak English. However if you can get a taxi driver who is fluent in English AND recommended by the resort - that would be another possibility.
