The Tryp Cayo Coco
 

I am leaving to Cuba in a week for my first time and am staying at the Tryp Cayo Coco. I have read whatever reviews I could find online, but I have heard different things regarding the 2 sections of the Melia Tryp: the Colonial section vs. the Club section. I understand that soon the Tryp Cayo Coco will no longer own the Colonial side, but could you please tell me if I DO have the option of staying at either what are the differences between the 2 sections (as far as rooms go), or the pros and cons of each? Any info you could offer would be really appreciated.<BR>I would really appreciate it.

The Colonial section is actually the oldest section, I believe built in 1994 and the Club section was built in 1996 or there abouts. The colonial section is built to resemble a village. The check in desk is at &quot;town hall&quot; and in kind of a town square with shops and the disco right around there. The shops are cute because they line the street like a real downtown with rooms over top. This section of the resort has real charactor. The rooms are clean and a fairly good size. <BR><BR>The Club section pretty much just looks like any other resort. The rooms are pretty much identical to the other section, just newer.<BR><BR>I would request the colonial section personally.<BR><BR>You will have fun whichever side.<BR><BR>I just like to remind people though, that the resort is getting a little older, and they don't do upkeep of resorts as well as they do in Canada. There may be some chipped paint, or some brocken side walks. Personally that wouldnt stop me from having a good time or make me think less of the resort, but those little things bother some people.

Glad Lissj was able to help out...I only know the Melia hotel in Cayo Guillermo. <BR>Did hear from friends who were there this last February that the airport on Cayo Coco is finished now - that's a very nice thing!

Thanks so much for your input. I am looking forward to my trip and doubt that those small signs of aging/deterioration will greatly affect my time at the Tryp Cayo Coco. Having read up on travellers' reviews, I feel I am going away with realistic expectations. Thanks again!
