The Ritz - Grand Cayman
Hi, taking a trip to Grand Cayman and staying at the Ritz in a month. Traveling with husband and 20 month old son. Any suggestions for restaurants, day trips, etc. We have requested a room close to elevators and pool (not staying ocean front) and know how big the hotel is. Do we have to bring beach toys or does the hotel have? Thanks! Daryl

The Ritz has a great restaurant called 7prime cuts. It is a steakhouse. It may be a little formal for your son, but it was great food.
Ragazzi is a good italian restaurant. This was one of our favorites. It is in a strip mall and a cab can take you. Off the top of my head, those were my two favorites. Oh and Deckers was pretty good. We stayed at the Marriott, but the Ritz is beautiful. Have fun! |
I stayed at the Ritz last year, but without kids, so I can't say what stuff they have for children your son's age (I know they have a well-regarded program for older kids). I would suggest you call the concierge and ask -- we found them exceptionally helpful when booking tennis court time and dives before we arrived.
As for restaurants, we loved Calypso Grill, where we ate for both lunch and dinner. It's on the water. Dinner absolutely requires reservations (and the tables are packed tightly together), but you can just drop in for lunch. We also liked Calico Jack's, which is a walk down 7 Mile Beach, for casual beachfront food -- the food is OK, but the atmosphere is great. |
I would guess that the ritz does not have toys for your child's use, but I would think that you could buy some beach toys at a sundry store or the like. That's what we do so we don't have to shlep pails and shovels from home. Then we just leave them there. Have a great time!

The Ritz does have sand toys available for children to use. Just ask a pool attendant for them.
