Sorry guys, I have to disagree with you on a few points. I was told that, "It never rains in Aruba", or only for 5 mins. Imagine our surprise when Omar came to town on our visit from 11-18th! He stayed for two days and ruined our beach. Thankfully, we had rented a jeep for a few days when we first got there, but it certainly wasn't cheap! Unless you really are careful, you will pay a lot! My husband picked a place and it was $195 for two days! Granted, I know with a little planning you could find cheaper. Our beach *was* beautiful before the storm, though- we stayed at the Marriot Surf Club and had a corner room on the 8th floor right on the beach. Will we come back? I'm not sure. Too many other places that we haven't been to. I will be hesitant of travelling in Oct, though, even in areas designated "out of the hurricane belt".

It is naive to believe that it never rains in Aruba and it is well known that the atlantic hurricane season is from June to November. Because an island is outside the hurricane belt does not mean it will not suffer effects of a passing storm.

While I agree its naive, in defense, most people's first trips to the caribbean are to aruba and they are told over and over again go to aruba they never get hit by hurricanes.
You can read post after post on fodors where people ask where should I go in oct or nov to avoid hurricanes...invariably the answer is always aruba!
my 2 cents...Greenie
