TCI Mosquitos?
Going to Provo next week and I can't wait! I am looking forward to dining at some of the outdoor restaurants. Will we need bug spray? On a vacation to Cabo we got eaten by Mosquitos and sand fleas. If it's a problem in TCI we will pack repellant.

No need to pack repellent, they sell it at supermarkets and dive shops. Worse case you forget it ask at the bar of the restaurant, chances are they might have some.
No see ums are only bad after rains, or at dusk. My trip last week I didn't get a single bite. |
Blamona & other posters, thanks for all the advise and suggestions in prep for our trip! I can't wait to see TCI next week! Caribbean, here we come!

Few problems usually rare Dengue risk in fall If I see mozzies I use cutteradvanced to be safe. Have fun! |
Get some DEET. "DEET is often sold and used in spray or lotion in concentrations up to 100%. Consumer Reports found a direct correlation between DEET concentration and hours of protection against insect bites. 100% DEET was found to offer up to 12 hours of protection while several lower concentration DEET formulations (20%-34%) offered 3–6 hours of protection. Other research has corroborated the effectiveness of DEET.The Center for Disease Control recommends 30-50% DEET to prevent the spread of pathogens carried by insects." Wikipedia I was able to get some DEET in St Martin.

Provo has never had a case of dengue fever on a vacationer ever!
Qwovadis, what are you trying to stir up? |
PS. Supermarkets and dive shops sell "Off" spray with 40% DEET.
I was on Provo last week and not a single bite. |
