I've been to Punta Cana 5 times at the same hotel>I am ready for a change,but my husband isn't. Can anyone suggest a good hotel thas all-inclusive with a price range up to $1500pp air fair included in carribean,possibly with swim up rooms

I have heard of swim up bars but not swim up rooms. Didn't know that such a thing existed.

Are you open to anywhere in the Caribbean?

Swim up rooms arein places like Bora Bora and Maldives, and are never AI. Never for your price either, more like $1500 per night without airfare.

There are many AIs if you want a change, but tell us more, or even better, post a new post with KVR she's well traveled with AIs.

I don't know about the price but here's one in Barbados with pool swim-up rooms.

We stayed at a sister hotel and had dinner at Colony Club one night. The swim -up rooms on the river pool intrigued us. We thought we might stay there one day.

We have also been to Punta Cana, DR. Barbados is much better. You will have to pay for it, but it is so worth it.

In all of our island travels, Mexico, DR, and Jamaica are the lower price range. The others are pricier. It also depends at what time of year you are travelling.

Resorts with swim up pool rooms:

Sandals, Secrets in Mexico, El Dorado resorts in Mexico, La Tortuga in Mexico, The Royal in Cancun, Coco Palm in St. Lucia, Valentin Imperial Maya in Mexico, Azul Sensatori in Mexico. All the preceding resorts are AI and many are adults only.

For $3,000 including air you may be pushing that budget for those hotels. They tend to place a very high price tag on the swim-up rooms. In my experience, those pools are not heated and if they do not get sun most of the day they are very cold. Not worth the extra price for me.

Avoid Mexico in the winter months as all property pools are too cool to swim in.

No swim up AI rooms in that very cheap package price range

The Hyatt in St. Croix used to have swim-up rooms and I think it's may be an AI now. But 1) I didn't like that part of the island and 2) didn't like (my perceived) lack of circulation in the water so we got a traditional room.

There are swim up rooms at the Aura Resort in Cozumel. Very nice resort. Also at one in Playa del Carmen, Princess Grand or something like that.

I went with my two daughters, ages 22 and 17. we stayed at the Melia resort- all inclusive. I would recommend it but make sure you upgrade for an extra $350 for the week. You get your private pool, restaurant, and beach section for upgrade people only. WELL WORTH IT! and then you can also use the non upgrade sections at your leisure.

Sandals has swim up rooms.....actually, I just got back from Sandals Grand Riveria in Ocho Rios - stayed in a hillside villa and had my own pool. Sandals Grande St. Lucia and Sandals Antiga both have swim up room and/or plunge pools.....

I'm intrigued that people are looking for swim-up rooms for a vacation. Doesn't that seriously impede privacy if anybody in the pool can swim up to your doorstep? Tell me more 'cause this sounds so interesting!

I don't think you can get a swim up room at Sandals with air for $3,000. I've been to 2 Sandals and paid close to $5,000 for a air and a mid level room.

ejcrowe, that's an interesting question. I've never had a swim-up room as I refuse to pay those prices, but I would think others would respect your privacy and not swim up to your door step unless invited. ;)

I thought it was interesting that when we went to Sandals Grande in St. Lucia it was at very low capacity due to Hurricane Wilma and none of their swim up rooms were even occupied and they refused to give out to people staying there as a free upgrade. We were on the third floor over looking the swim up rooms and no one was ever using that section of pool and the many of the rooms were just empty. Just another reason I don't like Sandals.

KVR already mentioned The Royal in Cancun. We stayed there in December in a swim-up room. It's all-inclusive, adults only. You can maybe stay there a couple of nights for your budget. Most resorts place a very high premium on swim-up rooms or rooms with plunge pools.

Our trip to Sandals Grande Riveria cost us $3200.00 for the week, that was in April, with air for 7 nights. We stayed in a hillside unit that had it's own pool. We would go in the pool in the mornings/evenings/night and hang out at the beach or main pool during the day. At Majestic Elegance,Punta Cana in February, we paid $8k for 5 people, 2 rooms, not including air.... we upgraded to the elegance club swim up room. we were at the end of the pool, but yes, we would wade through and we would be in our neighbors "back yard"...I loved both!

Bella Claire, you got one heck of a deal. Where did you book through and what airport are you flying out of? I looked through several airport codes within several major cities for the last week of April and couldn't find anything under $4,800 for that catagory of room. Please share your secret.

We just returrned from Sabor Cozumel, the sister resort to Aura Cozumel. Sabor is a little more budget friendly but still features swim up terrace rooms in their exclusive section. We upgraded and got the swim up rooms ....our total for two, including air, was about $2,500. It's not the Ritz, but it was AI, adults only and we had a blast. Sabor will not be adults only beginning July 2012, but my understanding is that the exclusive section only will remain adult only.

Hi KVR, I'm sorry I didn't respond sooner, somehow I missed this. I did fail to mention that I did get a bit of a discount with my Sandals rewards points. That said, we have a GREAT travel agent, who specializes in All Inclusives...and is always on the hunt for good deals. We booked each trip about 7 months in advance. For Punta Cana, we fly non-stop from Detroit round trip. For Sandals Grande Riveria, we fly non-stop on the outbound and had a connection via Atlanta on the return - again from Detroit Metro. Also, there are mentions here of The Royal in Cancun. When I looked this up, there were a bunch of "Royals" in Cancun. Which is it, please?

It's the Royal Cancun by the Real Resorts. Their sister resort is the Royal Playa del Carmen.
