Surfing in Puerto Rico?

Are there good surf spots in Puerto Rico? Is summer a good time to go?

Rincon,on PR's west coast, is considered one of the premier surfing destinations in the Caribbean. Don't know about summer surfing, but in February, the waves were big and the surfers were out in droves.

Thanks for the responses! I think we are going to go to Rincon in August. Anyone know what the weather is like in August? Also- we plan to bring our 10 month old (who will be 11 months) with us. Any tips on travelling to Rincon with baby?

You should find the weather hot, with thunderstorms or showers in the late afternoon. August is the busiest month of the hurricane season, so there's always the possibility of a major storm.

The west coast gets the better waves during November to May, since this is the time of year when the cold fronts come in from the Gulf of Mexico. During the summer there is really not much surf going on, except if there are storms comming in. During August to November the East coast gets the waves since the storms and Hurricanes come from the East. Anyways Rincon is a great place to stay, you might be able to get small surf 3-4 foot even out of season. No probs bring a baby as long as he is watched by someone while you are surfing. You might also want to look at Aguadilla and Isabela since there are many nice beaches and many americans living close to the beach.
