Hi, can anyone tell me about the Sunset Beach Resort in Montego Bay? It's very inexpensive and I wondered if it was a decent resort? Any information would be aprreciated. Thanks

just returned from sunset beach resort.. accomodations are average..room was clean..nothing fancy..did not find the staff to be very friendly or helpful..the scenery was beautiful..if you are looking for sandy white beaches..this is not the place..brown sand and swimming practically impossible unless you are very adventurous and can step on rocky type sea bed to make your way to deeper water..signs are posted to beware of jelly fish and sea urchins..we saw several jelly fish.. .. this setting is beautiful to look at with the lush mountain ridges and sunsets over the sea..you just can't really run in and start frolicking in the surf..the pools were dirty..sand and leaves floating in them..not very appealing..however, when it is 95 in the shade..you don't care how dirty the pool is. the food at the buffet was excellent and consistently so each meal..the two restaurants you make reservation for were average at best.this was my first time in jamaica..can't say i'll go back..the trip back on air jamaica was a nightmare, and made many of us feeling less than enthusiastic about a return trip with this airline.

We stayed at Sunset Beach in June. It is a moderate hotel. The rooms were clean and food good. Lots of activies going on. Fun night life. Good value for the money. Sure there are nicer resorts but how much are you willing to pay? I have taken my family to Jamaica many times but this was the first time to stay right in Montego Bay. My teens liked Sunset Beach for the fun night life and a lot of people around their age. The food was ok, again the kids liked both the buffet and the reservations only restaurants. My husband and I have been to Sandals, SuperClubs and Couples. Yes they are all nicer but much more expensive. I have also taken my kids to FDR in Ocho Rios and FDR Pebbles. Kids liked those also and again more $$$$. What matters is what are YOU expecting out of your vacation? Pampering? Sunset Beach is not. Just a clean bed, good food and relax? Yes. And we did some wonderful snorkling right off the beach at Sunset. You have to go out a ways but there are some fantastic reefs out there. We saw sea turtles and a ray. There were jellies but they were the tiny ones that don't sting. There are urchins everywhere the ocean, Hawaii, Turks etc. just watch out!

we stayed there last march and really enjoyed it. it was about half the cost of grand lido resorts. food was pretty good, room was clean, lots going on. the beaches were not great but pool was very nice and if you're happy laying out and wading it it would be fine. for what you spend there, i don't think you can go wrong. e-mail me if you need more specific info, good luck
