Sunny Beach Weather in February

My 12 year old daughter and I want to go away for a week in February. Where is it going to be hot and sunny and beach weather?

No one can give you a precise answer when it comes to predicting the weather (especially for a specific week) but generally speaking you can expect to find lots of sun and daytime temperatures in the low to mid-80's F. anywhere in the Caribbean during February. The further south you go the warmer it will be but on average, there's not more than a 4 or 5 degree (F.) between average temperatures between the islands in the northern Caribbean and the ones in the Southern Caribbean.

Avoid the Bermuda, Bahamas and the Turks & Caicos as these are in the Atlantic (not the Caribbean) and fairly far north - there's always the possibility of a cold front passing through in winter.

Any island from Dominican Republic and south will do just fine.

if you can tell us a little about what you & daughter would enjoy doing & what sort of lodging you seek, as well as what you want to spend per night we can give you more specific advice. the more detailed the better.

Depends on just how warm you want the ocean to be. For consistently warm weather and swimmable water, Jamaica is fine and anywhere in the eastern Caribbean from Puerto Rico on southward. In the northeastern Caribbean water temps will be as low as 78-79 in winter. (PR,USVI,BVI,St.Martin,Anguilla,Antigua,St.Kitts, Nevis etc. If you want warmer than that, say 80-82, go to Martinique and beyond---St. Lucia, Barbados, St. Vincent & Grenadines, Grenada, Trinidad&Tobago, Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao.

To reiterate what others have said, I would not choose the Bahamas in February so personally I would not consider the suggestions of Harbour Island resorts like Pink Sands, Runaway Hill or Rock House or the PI ideas of Atlantis- you just cannot be sure of "hot and sunny" like you requested (or even real warm!!) there in February. We did have a very nice trip to Puerto Rico (Culebra) in February one time so I do think the advice of PR or DR and south from there is your best bet. I hope you have a wonderful and special trip!

Aruba!

Stay @ Marriott or Radisson on Palm Beach.

Or, go to www.redweek.com or www.tug2.net and rent a timeshare for a week in February. We stayed at Aruba Marriott Ocean Club a couple of times in February & loved it. Another time we stayed at the Marriott hotel & liked that too. But the timeshare villa gives you a lot more room.

I disagree with anyone regarding Turks & Caicos being not warm enough in February. We have gone every late January into February for years and it is hot. Hot enough to swim in the ocean or pools. Turks & Caicos is so easy to get to , check it out!

I haven't been to Turks & Caicos in February but I have been in November and I can tell you it was too cool to get in the water a few days. And I live in Boston and am used to cold weather. So yes, it can get cool in T & C.

If it were me planning a Caribbean trip in February I wouldn't take a chance on the weather being warm enough. If you're going specifically to enjoy the beach and warm water I wouldn't book anything north of St. Lucia. So St. Lucia, Barbados, Grenada, Aruba, etc. all would work.

South of Puerto Rico should be fine. As a general rule I would not go north of that in Feb to be guaranteed good weather/warm waters.

Would you consider Mexico? Both east and west coasts typically have lovely weather in February (Cancun/Playa del Carmen on the Caribbean side, Puerto Vallarta/Cabo on the west coast).
