Suggestions re BVI's?

Hi, everyone! Wow, this is a great site! I hope someone out there will have some suggestions to help us plan our dream getaway to a sun warmed locale in late January. We are looking for someplace low key, quiet, and friendly but with beautiful uncrowded beaches, and lots of greenery. However, we are actually not the type to just lounge on the beach all day. We love snorkeling and swimming and also fishing (for food generally, not for sport only... i.e. tuna or (heh) wahoo, not sailfish) although the fishing is not a necessity. We also enjoy learning about the history of the places we visit and we always travel with books. We tend to like more luxurious accomodations and we really enjoy eating out to try new cuisines wherever we go, but alas we are on a budget which unfortunately will be tough in the middle of high season. Anyway, from the research that I've done in the past two days prior to finding this site, the B.V.I.'s seem to be the most promising locale. My two top picks to stay at this point are Guavaberry on Virgin Gorda and the Sandcastle on Host Van Dyke. Any thoughts? Any place else that would be less expensive but still comfortable and not a dive? (Although we are in our early 30's, my husband's back requires a good mattress.) We are trying to avoid the extremely touristy areas of the Caribbean. We will be happier to look up at the stars than to be surrounded by nightclubs or bars or casinos. If anyone has information about the destination, the accomodations, restaurants, or activities, please reply. Thanks in advance!

Oops, I meant JOST Van Dyke above.

When and if you contact the very helpful people at Guavaberry ask about La Casita at Las Brisas. Wonderful place for two. We stayed there last year and loved the place...it is at the top of the Baths and very close to other activities on VG. The place is beautifully decorated, outdoor garden shower, and a great private pool. It is directly across the road from the famous Mad Dog's. You'll love it.

Thanks, E.D. and Barn for the tips! I don't recall anything about La Casita on the Guavaberry website. I assume it's owned by the same people?? We shall look into that. It definitely sounds heavenly! Anyone with info about Sandcastle or other similar places on the B.V.I.'s? Also, how easy (or difficult) is it to get to and around the islands? We have never been to the Caribbean.
