Suggestions for reggae cd's

I'm a big Bob Marley fan. I'm looking for suggestions for other reggae artists. I'll post this in the Lounge also. Thanks.

If you have either XM or Sirius satellite radio, they both have reggae only channels.

Don't overlook Bankie Banx in Anguilla. He throws the annual Moonsplash festival. Check him out at

Thanks. I've ordered CS's by Toots and the Maytals and by Jimmy Cliff. Can't wait for them to arrive.

Soft reggae -- Beres Hammond, Aswad and Maxi Priest

Unique reggae - There's a 2 disc CD called "Fire on the Mountain -- Reggae Celebrates the Grateful Dead." Various reggae artists doing covers of Dead songs. Pretty cool.

Most surprising voice since Mike Tyson -- Matisyahu. Listen to his music first and then check out his videos.

Fun reggae -- Yellowman

I came across this two man band and love the sound. Check them out on You Tube The Dualers
They have a wonderful sound and mix of Caribbean mento, Calypso, American Jazz, Rhythum & Blues, Soul, and Reggae

I like old school but some recent young artist have a lot to stay and stick to the one-drop and concious lirics.

Old School - part of my collection)

Toots and the Maytals
Black Uhuru
Tenor Saw
Mighty Diamonds
Culture
Kidus I
U Roy
Israel Vibrations
Teacher Ras Sam Brown
Apple Gabrael
I Roy
Jacob Miller
Rastafari Elders
Gregory Isaacs
Dennis Brown

Other

Lutan Fyah
Queen Omega (my aboslute treasure)
Dezaree (another treasure)
Bush Man
Jah Mason (good)
Richie Spice (awsome)
Everton Blender(splendid)
Danny I
Red eye Band
Buju Bantan later CD's

There are loads more but try some of these and see if you like.
