Suggestions for parents' 80th Birthday present

Hi there and looking for some advice. Both parents have never witnessed the Caribbean blue waters before and we'd like to go at Christmas time for 1 week...where the weather is good! 5 people flying out of Tampa. Good food and accomodation is an absolute! Casino gambling for Dad; nice beaches, shopping for Mom. A bit of history and day trips would be a plus. Budget apx $2500 per head. Is that reasonable including airfare? Looking forward to some feedback. Thanking you in advance....one of the daughters

Islands with casinos I have been to are Aruba, Puerto Rico, & Bahamas. Good luck with booking for Christmas time - of course prices are high then & things book up quick.

Hope this gives you some direction to start your search.

Aruba: Holiday Inn Beach Resort & Casino is about $300 per night (off season is about $122 per night. (Have not stayed at the Holiday Inn, have stayed at the Haytt.) Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort & Casino (Aruba) Off season rooms start at about $185 per night.

El Conquistador Resort (Puerto Rico)www.elconresort.com/ Rooms start at about $200 per night - not sure if that includes "high" season prices.
Very large & nice compound.

The Atlantis (Bahamas) http://www.atlantis.com/flash.aspx
Think rooms start at about $300 per night. The Atlantis is awesome -- no real reason to leave it.

What a wonderful trip for your parents! I don't have many pertinent suggestions as your criteria for this vacation differ from my personal criteria. I did, however, want to give you the heads-up about minimum stays during the holidays. At many of the most popular and/or upscale resorts, there is a higher minimum night stay--often 10-14 nights during the Christmas/New Year holiday. Of course, many only require a 7 night stay, in which case you're all set!

Would highly suggest a high end cruise for them.. with casino... and good food.. At 80 years old they would get a chance to go to a few great islands and Mom could shop,,,and beachs available.
