Suggestions for Caribbean trip
We r planning a long weekend ..4 nites....to Caribbean. Fly from Albany ny....looking for someplace with great beaches but also has other interesting things such as historical or cultural or natural sights. Do not want Mexico, PR or Jamaica. Not in to casinos...more into relaxing. Suggestions?

For just 4 nights, I'd look for the island that I could reach in the shortest time from Albany. Otherwise you could easily spend most of 2 days traveling.
What time of year will you be going? Would Bermuda be out of the question? |
We r ging late feb or early march. Bermuda may be too cool at that time of year. I agree we need to get a direct or close to direct flight. Any ideas?

Unfortunately I don't think you can reach anywhere in the Caribbean non-stop from Albany which means either a "direct" (a stop where you don't change planes) or a connecting flight (a stop where you change planes) with the latter being the most probable. You'll most likely have to make your connection at JFK or perhaps MIA (assuming there's a non-stop from Albany to MIA).
You've eliminated three (Mexico, Jamaica and Puerto Rico) of the easiest destinations to reach. So if you want to get there (wherever "there" is) in a relatively short flying time look at the Dominican Republic, St. Thomas, St. Martin, St. Kitts or perhaps St. Martin. Anything further south will increase your travel time and with a 4 night trip you don't want to waste too much time "in the air". |
