Suggestions for a Resort in the Carribean w/Toddler
 

We're going to the Carribeans this July and we're looking for suggestions of resorts which has a lively pool area filled with music & activities that is family oriented. Our daughter (who will be 2) as well as both my wife and I enjoy being in more lively surrounding rather than a quiet hotel. So if anyone can offer some suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. We had one of these islands in mind: St. John/Thomas, Antigua or Turks. Or if someone has a better suggestion?

the beaches resort on provo, in turks and caicos should be a good choice for you. very lively, kids club,
nothing on st. john is particularly lively.
on st. thomas you could look at bolongo bay but i think the crowd is too old for your 2 yr old to enjoy.
or look at fdr pebbles on jamaica.

I agree Beaches Resort on Provo in the T&C is well known as one of the best family resorts in the Caribbean. But, and it could be a big BUT, a 2 year old child may be too young to participate in their "children's program". You may find the same situation at most resorts so wherever you decide to go you should check on that aspect so you won't be disappointed.

With a 2 yo old,i think the only thing you really need is a property that welcomes children. Otherwise, a 2 yo can't participate in children's clubs or activities, so you should just choose a place that appeals to you.

That said, I wouldn't take my child to cap Juluca in anguilla, but i would take her to cuisinart in anguilla or regent palms in T&C.

I hear there is a high end resort in antigua that is kid friendly and waonderful-- but the name escapes me.

Post some more about your like and dislikes--also yoru price range-- i'm not sure what you mean by lively? Lively might mean atlantis at the bahamas? or it could just mean active ?

When I say lively I mean generally the resort will have its employees trying to involve guests to participate in the resort sponsored activities at the pool side during the day. They will also have some music playing and in the evenings, there would be some event/program held by the resort that is family oriented. We were in Jamaica about 5 years back and our resort (Renaissance Jamaica Grande) had these things and it was a lot of fun. Although it was only my wife and I, the programs were family friendly and everyone (couples and families) was having a great time.

It sounds like you are looking for a larger, all-inclusive -- the reason I say this is that those are the resorts that tend to have lots of organized activities. Other than Beaches, can't really think of any place on T & C that fits the bill. T & C is full of great condo-style resorts which are very useful with toddlers but these are not large resorts with activity directors encouraging people to get involved in games etc. I don't think either Antigua or St. Thomas/St. John has much of that either and we didn't find much of that on Aruba, Curacao, Barbados, St. Kitts or Nevis. Most of the resorts of that type are in Mexico, Dominican Republic or Jamaica.

Club Med is not for everyone, but I think it will fit your needs. Some of them have "baby and children clubs".
