Will be in Cayman Islands for a week, but want to rent a car for maybe two days. Will spend one day driving from our hotel (SM Beach Suites) to Rum Point where we will do the bio-bay tour at night. Looking for places to stop along the way. Thanks!

you might stop in bodden town. couple of shops and some pirate memorabilia.
go to the queen elizabeth botanical gardens on the frank sound road (this is the road that splits the island in half) to see lots of beautiful plants & landscaping plus green parrots and blue iguanas. you could see this in 90 mins or spend more time as desired. then drive back to seaview road (the road you came from seven mile/georgetown on) and drive around the east end of the island. you'll go by the blow holes (dramatic on a windy day) on around through gun bay where you can (sort of) see the remains of the wreck of the seven sails, then you'll come to morritts and the reef resorts. you can stop at the reef for drinks, food or a swim on their beach. continuing along the queens highway (past some way nice houses), you'll come to old man bay which has a gas station if you need gas & a small very picturesque cemetary by the sea. you'll be driving along the north shore and will be right by the water - giving you numerous opportunities to pull over and walk onto a small beach or just gaze. if you're feeling the need for a beer in this neighborhood stop at 'over the edge' - it's a little hole in the wall place - you can sit on their deck over the water.
then you'll come to rum point. very colorful. some ok snorkeling. good beach burgers, etc.
we used andy's but picked up our car at the airport on arrival so not sure of walking distance gc beach suites to their office

Thanks guys. So is Starfish Beach closed to the public?

starfish is open to the public. you have to walk in. it's not far at all. there is a road, but someone has recently purchased the property & apparently they've closed access to the road.
we stayed in a house nearby and drove over each night to watch the sunset. it's lovely. also snorkeled. lots of starfish in variety of colors.
