St.Thomas...Better than St. Maarten???

How do the 2 islands compare?

I've been to St. Maarten (French side) three times and love it. The culture is great, the food and overall atmosphere. How does St. Thomas compare? We typically stay at condos right on the water, could this same type of rental be done in St Thomas?

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

We just got back from an island stop at St. Maarten and we think St. Thomas is very comparable to this island. They are are favorite two islands in the Caribbean. You can't go wrong
on either island.

I find St.Martin too busy now. Traffic on the island is horrendous. Whoever thought you had to sit in bumper to bumper traffic just to get across the island? St. Thomas is worthwile because it is beautifully situated, and you can take day trips to other islands. Beaches on St. Thomas are also prettier. I think Charlotte Amalie is very charming and I enjoyed the shopping experience. (And I am not a shopper!)Physically, I think St. Thomas is more attractive than St. Martin. Too many parts of St. Martin have become tacky and seedy. There are condo hotels on the water in St. Thomas. I think it would be worthwhile.

We honeymooned on St. Martin and return frequently but bought time share at Marriott's Frenchman's Cove on St. Thomas. I think if you like one you'll like the other. Lots of excursion options on St Thomas with nearby islands to explore easily.
