Stormy weather in December!!!

It may be the luck of my husband and I, but we just came back from our 2nd weather-ruined vacation to a so called sunny, tropical island. Last year we went to Hawaii in December for our honeymoon for 2 weeks, and maybe got 3-4 days of sunny, pool-side weather. And last week we went to Atlantis on Paradise island (which i don't recommend to any couples without kids), and also encountered nothing short of a monsoon for 3 straight days. We were told Hawaii has a rainy season, but I never knew the Caribbean islands did. Has anyone else encountered this? And when do you think it's ok to be guaranteed a sunny, hot vacation? not before March? There isn't much else to do on these islands without nice weather, so you're really screwed when this happens- trust me. Beware!

Yes, just like everywhere else the Caribbean and Bahamas have a rainy season. No one can guarantee sun all the time! As for the Atlantis, we went without kids and loved it. Just depends on each persons preference.

Bahamas are too far north to be certainly warm in Nov-Feb.

I think that most caribbean islands are, by definition, tropical islands (I haven't been to Aruba or Bonaire, but posters keep describing that they are very arid and outside of the "hurricane belt). I think it is pretty unusual for that much rain in December...usually in the tropics it will be clear in the morning, then there may be a shower in the afternoon, than it will clear again. Three straight days of rain sounds like bad luck, but enirely possible in tropical climates. During hurricane season (July-November, but mostly August-Sept), it may be more normal to rain for 3 straight days. Also, as someone else said, the Bahamas are further north than most other Caribbean islands.

A couple years ago we went to Puerto Rico on Dec. 1st. We were going to spend 5 days there pre cruise. It never stopped raining the entire time we were there. Not just a sprinkle...it RAINED!
