Storm Damage

Does anyone have information on recent storm damage to Anguilla and Cap Julica specifically? Thanks

Hi!
I'm booked to visit Anguilla next year and I've found the website http://news.ai to be most helpful even w/storm info. Maybe you will find the info you need there.

Hi Melody,

As we are leaving Monday for Barbados, I've been following Lenny very closely. A lot of islands not directly in the storm path suffered damage from very high, rough seas and I believe that Cap Juluca sustained some damage. For details check out www.gobeach.com/reports. This site has first-hand reports from correspondents on the various islands. Good luck.

Linda

Anguilla was devastated by the storm. Cap Juluca has announced that they will be closed until after the new year. Same with many others. Here is the best site to visit for updates and photos. http://news.ai/daily.php3
They are written by Bob Green who publishes the Anguilla news. Sorry to bear bad tidings but we are all heartbroken by what has happened to this beautiful island.
I just called Cap Juluca's US reservations number on December 8 and they weren't yet willing to commit to a April 1st opening. They're still waiting to hear something from the resort and aren't taking any reservations.

I just called Cap Juluca and they are not taking reservations until Nov 1, 2000.

We were on Anguilla (March 7) for one day as this was a port where our cruise ship docked. The island did not appear to have much hurricane damage (but we were only on the island a few hours). However, Jen is correct in reporting Cap Julica will not reopen until 11/1. We were told this from Anguilla resident who is working on the property.

Same thing happened with the Four Seasons resort in Nevis. They also were hit by Lenny and were scheduled to reopen April 1st, but have now decided (only 2 weeks ago) to reopen Novemebr 1st. I guess they are waiting to see if they get hit again this hurricane season!!

Elaine, I'm very interested in your post re: Anguilla as a cruise port. In all my research, the only cruise I've seen that includes Anguilla is Windjammer, and they only do that itinerary in winter & spring. Please tell me which cruise stops at Angulla. Thanks.
