St.Lucia newbie
Hi- thinking of going to st. Lucia in february for a few days. Would love some insight on this island . It looks absolutely beautiful. Are there roads treacherous as I'm hearing? Thinking of staying at the Viceroy. Is there anything else in that area or is it pretty secluded? Any restaurants besides those within the hotel? TIA for any info. We would be taking our 11 yo daughter with us.

We went about three years ago and loved it!!!!But You have to remember that St. Lucia is a third world country.some People literally wash clothes in the river and do not have electricity. you definitely should not drink the water. The roads are really bad and I would not advise driving on your first trip. When we went they had had a hurricane a year or two before and the main road was only one lane in some parts(but two directions) and really couldn't be widened because it was at the edge of the mountain. We loved the beaches-we stayed in Rodney bay. We also took a private tour(pretty cheap) to see the volcano and gardens down south. The volcano and mud baths were very cool. we also did ziplining and loved it!! One of the best parts was that there is fruit)bananas, mangos, guava) all over and the driver would just stop and pick us some. also in the straw market you could buy all kinds of exotic fruits. we were also there in February and all the attractions were surprisingly empty. sorry I don't know anything about that hotel.
