Still need Barbados hotel?

Going for 2 night- want something a little more special than condo/motel on the beach. Looks like Sandy Lane and Royal Pavillion are out of picture- too pricy. Can stay at Glitter Bay for free one night, but would have to pay for second- and it appears from past reviews it is not worth the $359 they are charging. Must have beautiful beach for sunbathing/swimming, bar or drink service at beach/pool area. What other choices do I have- do not want to be too far from airport (maybe 30 minutes max).

Glitter Bay is definitely not worth it. Recently sold to investors -- they hope to renovate it -- it's in dire need of this.

You should consider the South Coast if you want to be 30 minutes from the airport. From any of the South Coast hotels, go up to the ABC highway and you will get there in 30 minutes or less.

Places to consider: Coral Sands Beach Resort ($155/night off season), Bougainvillea Beach, or Accra. Southern Palms might be a good possibility as well.

For what you are looking for, definitely listen to Lois. She is the Barbados expert! You can't go wrong with any of those suggestions. One more option you might want to check out is Little Arches Hotel. I haven't stayed there but have heard great things and it is also on the south coast.

I'll chime in for Southern Palms. Not as elegant as some of the west coast places, but certainly clean, well run and great beach. Within walking distance to all the great restaurants in the gap.

Enjoy, Greenie!

I too will be in Barbados in late Jan/early Feb-- only I'm on business and will be visiting with clients located in St. Michaels. While I'd love to stay at Sandy Lane etc, I'm afraid corp expense will (at the max) go for $450-500 per night for my 2 or 3 nights.
But, would like someplace near/on a beach etc. I'm not sure about renting a car, as I've only driven in the US and I've heard driving is on the other side there. (Silly question, but is it difficult to get used to, driving on the other side I mean :) )

Lois seems to be the expert, but from my research Coral Reef seems to be really nice and fit your bill for a nice beach and service, but its too far from the airport. Only the southern resorts would be close enough. We are going to be staying at Little Arches starting this Saturday. Its a two minute walk from Miami beach. I think the pool area would be small, but great service. The reviews for it were terrific.

It's Lois again --
St. Michael parish includes the Bridgetown area. So if you don't go with Coral Reef Club, then I would also suggest checking out Little Arches. It's a great "boutique" hotel with only 10 rooms. It is a 2 min. walk to the beach, but that's not bad. Rooms are really decorated nicely and it gets good reviews. Also their restaurant "Cafe Luna" on the rooftop is excellent.

Coral Reef Club is the class act on Barbados, and nuch more reasonable than Sandy Lane.
