Staying on Nevis/Is St. kitts worth a day trip

We will be travelling to Nevis next month and I was just wondering if its worth it to check out St. Kitts for a day trip? Or are the two islands so similar that it would not be worth our while?

Thanks.

You should absolutely get over and visit St. Kitts. There is some beautiful scenery and history on that island. Some places you could visit are Romney Manor, Brimstone Hill, the southern peninsula with its nice beaches, some of the Plantation Inns are very nice. St. Kitts is different enough from Nevis that it would be worthwhile. If you can rent a car for the day, better still. But a taxi tour could certainly be arranged.

Jen,
You can arrange for an island tour as soon as you step off the ferry that will take several hours and visit the highlights of St. Kitts. Be sure also that you go to the Caribelle batik factory so you can get some gorgeous island fashions that were made on site. (They have nice men's shirts too.)
Downtown Basseterre has a couple of good restaurants for lunch. We like the one that overlooks the square - I think it's called the Circus? Brimstone Hill is definitely worth the time, and it's a good place to see the monkeys also.
You will have a great time as you are going in the off season and will have most of the beaches to yourself.

How about some inside scoop on Nevis! Island flavor, quality of beaches, etc. Thanks

Me2,
Nevis is by far my favorite island - we're building there - but I have a tough time to explain why that is true.
The beaches are definitely not the best, you don't get that aquamarine water, and there's not much to do at night.
The combination of the friendly people, the natural beauty, the funky laid back atmosphere, and the relaxation I get there are like nothing else.

Namcy,
You seem knowledgeable on St. Kitts. Do you know anything about the Marriott there? Are they almost finished? It was supposed to open in a couple of weeks?? thanks

If you stay in St. Kitts, take a day trip to Nevis, if you stay in Nevis, take a day trip to St. Kitts. Both islands are different enough to make it worthwhile to see them both. I stayed in SK and enjoyed it but I was really enchanted by Nevis. I think it's a little paradise. For a small island, it offers a lot: nice beaches, a picturesque town, great accommodation, good food, lush interior, relative safety, friendly locals, hiking and snorkelling options. St. Kitts has these two, but it's a bigger island and has some rougher edges. Also, the beaches are a bit rougher on St. Kitts

Hi Jammin,
The last I heard, the opening was delayed until at least Feb.
