Staying at the Elysian

We are staying at the Elysian in August on St. Thomas. What should we see while there? We have never been to St. Thomas. What about the hotel? Has anyone stayed at this hotel? Would like to know about anyone's experience.

I stayed at the Elysian in March through an Apple vacation and was VERY pleasantly surprised. Beautiful, quiet beach in a small cove and clean rooms (we stayed in a studio loft - perfect for 2 people) It's not really a hotel - it's time-share condos but that was fine with us. Nice big pool - although it broke about 3 days into our week - and waterports are available. Make sure to try a burger at the beachside grill! Breakfast was a little disappointing so we ended up going into Red Hook (a $3 cab ride) to get food at a little deli in town (there was a refrigerator in the room) My friend and I hung out in Red Hook a lot and we loved it (that's also where you catch the shuttle to St. John). Our only disappointment with the Elysian was the shuttle service to downtown and Magen's Bay - it ran on an odd schedule so we usually took a cab one way. And a cab to downtown will get pricey if you plan on going there a lot. We'll probably take our chances next time and rent a car. Hope this helps - we too couldn't find anyone who had been there so if you'd like more info, please email me.
My husband and I stayed at the Elysian in November. The resort was everything we asked for. We had a hotel unit which had a very large room, balcony overlooking the sea, refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. The bathroom was large with mirrors all around. The complimentary continental breakfast was very good and quite filling. Water sports equipment was available free of charge and you could even take the equipment off the property. We used the snorkle equipment on several beaches. Staff was friendly and helpful in arranging trips and making reservations for us and also in recommending activities. We spent a lot of time in Red Hook which was about a 5 minute drive from the resort. You could catch a ferry to St.John from Red Hook and be there in about 30 minutes. We plan to return to the Elysian.Watch out for the iguanas around the pool; they love strawberry daiquires and red toe nail polish.
