St. Thomas vs. Curacao

My fiance and I are getting married in October. I'm a Marriott employee, so we are looking at staying at either the Curacao Marriott Beach Resort & Emerald Casino or the Frenchman's Reef & Morning Star Marriott Beach Resort. We are in our early 20s, so nightlife would be preferred.

Curacao is one island I have not been to! I hope RoamsAround will answer for the comparison. St Thomas has lots of night life and young people, but not so much at the hotel- you would have to get out and about, and it is an easy thing to do. Best wishes on your wedding!

I have been to both Islands and can say that neither was one of my favorites. Though I did not stay at a Marriott in either destination. However, of the two, I did like Curacao over St. Thomas. St. Thomas has it's own issues and most people use it as a gateway to get to St. John. Curacao is a pain to get to from most USA departure points. Curacao is really not known for good nightlife.

Being in your 20's and wanting nightlife, I would suggest the Marriott on Aruba instead. The Island has tons of dining options, shopping and nightlife that the other two just don't. Also, since you are going during prime hurricane season, Aruba and Curacao would be a better choice weather wise, but not a guarantee.

I have trip reports posted on this site of all 3 of those destinations if you are interested. I also have a photo site at:

Great minds think alike...I also would choose the Marriott in Aruba over Curacao. Better beaches in Aruba and bigger selection of restaurants.
