St. Thomas / snorkeling
We are trying to use our Delta FF miles to get to St. Thomas in early July. I have a 14 and 18 year old and need suggestions as to which resort would be best. Hubby's only requirement is a nice beach with crystal clear water that he can snorkel in. I'm just not seeing this at St. Thomas. Am I wrong?

If it is a good beach with nice snokeling, Secret Harbour or Sapphire Beach both fit the bill. Secret Harbour is condo style and a bit more sedate and Sapphire is geared more towards families. Both are a short ride to Red Hook and the ferry to St. John.

KaribIslander is right on target with his/her suggestions. With teenagers I would go with Sapphire Beach. The snorkeling is excellent and it's a great older, but well kept resort for families. The Sunday beach party is fun!
I don't know why you say,"I'm just not seeing this at St. Thomas." Have you been there or gone snorkeling in the USVI? The snorkeling is better over on St John but there are plenty of opportunities for snorkeling on St Thomas. And for snorkeling right off the resort beach, either Sapphire or Secret Harbour would be great!

Thanks for the suggestions. We booked Secret Harbor after looking again. I think it will fit us best. Thanks again!

If you can rouse the kids early one day, take them to Coki Beach at about 7 or 8 am for some excellent snorkeling before the cruise ship crowds arrive.

(Or leave them behind!)
Funny thing is every time we have booked a snorkel trip in St. THomas do you know where they took us? Over to St. John.

Key word is "trip", where would they take you to St. Thomas? There are great snokeling sites on St. Thomas. If you need a trip out. Try Buck Island, there is even a wreck there to explore!
Ronnie
