St. Thomas resort help needed!

Looking at booking a 10-year anniversary trip. The Ritz on St. Thomas is an option. Has anyone stayed there recently? Otherwise, Marriott Frenchman's Reef just went through a big renovation. Does anyone have info on that resort? The only other option we were considering was Scrub Island Resort but the cost is much higher than the others. I am mainly looking for NICE rooms, pretty beaches, etc. Any info would be great.

Have you considered Caneel Bay on St. John? It's an amazing setting.

Do you need a resort? Would a condo or a villa do?

The three properties you listed are all part of the Marriott - are you trying to stay in that family of hotels only?

no info on scrub.
ritz is much prettier than frenchman's. ritz beach has view of st. john & other small islands. pool is infinity. is located near red hook if you want to ferry to st. john. has a more away from it all feeling. has 'the lady lyndsay' a private catamaran.
frenchman's is much closer to charlotte amalie & all the hubbub. has ferry directly into town if you want to shop or go to dinner. has my favorite restaurant on island - havana blue.
i would choose ritz over frenchman's but caneel over either - they have 7 of their own beaches!

We stayed at Ritz for our ten year last November. Service was spectacular at pool and beach. I was in the business before kids so am picky about that and they did a great job. Loved the flag when we needed drinks, food, etc. They were mind readers too.. We were either relaxing or on the water (scuba, snorkel, etc). Not big shoppers so i was glad we were at the other end and the views of St. John were so beautiful. Did venture out to Havana Blue one night (restaurant at another hotel 20ish minutes away and loved it).
Our favorite part was getting a boat/captain for the day and going over to St. John to snorkel and then the BVI (Tortola, Jost and the Soggy Dollar Bar, Corona Island, Indians to snorkel, etc).
Since we were celebrating our ten year, hotel really went out (island flower bouquet, champagne, choc covered strawberries with tuxedos, going home gifts, etc).
Put in the notes you are celebrating and talk to concierge ahead of time.
Can't wait to go back.

Why not Caneel Bay? I go every year and never tire of the place. It is not for everyone-no TV or phone in the rooms, no nightlife Just serenity and the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean.

Since you're asking about Frenchman's Reef, we just spent two nights there (July 11th, 12th) and it was fabulous. The renovation is outstanding, I have nothing bad to say about the place. They have their own launch to Charlotte Amalie, the views all over the entire grounds are gorgeous, the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, the bars and eateries are superb, the rooms are top-notch. It was a great experience and we'd to it again in a heartbeat, except for the fact that St. John in general and Caneel Bay in particular spoiled us to the point that we'd probably skip St. Thomas altogether in the future. No diss to STJ, but what they call "driving" over there is what we call "demolition derby" over here.
