St. Thomas Hotel for One Night
My husband and I are going down to the Virgin Islands with another couple to charter a sail boat. We will be flying into St. Thomas and need to find a hotel for one night. We leave early the next morning from the harbor in Red Hook, so we would like to find a hotel near that location.
I have called Saphire, which does not accommodate one night stays, Secret Harbor, which is sold out, and Pavilion and Pools, which has two rooms at $290 each after tax.
Can anyone recommend a hotel near Red Hook that is cheaper? As long as it's clean, we are not too concerned with the amenities (pool, restaurants, etc.).
Thanks.

You really pay a premium to stay in a resort. If it's just one night, stay at the Holiday Inn or one of the smaller hotels in Charlotte Amalie, and then take a taxi to Red Hook the next day. Most of the decent B&Bs are in Charlotte Amalie, not Red Hook.

The Green Iguana, Hotel 1829, Villa Santana, Mafolie, and Island View Guesthouse all have some rooms in that range depending on the season. The Holiday Inn may also be in that range, but it depends on when you go. Various people on this board have different preferences, but I think Island View Guesthouse, while the simplest of these small places, is also the cheapest (rooms around $105 per night). The difficulty is that you aren't within walking distance of much and might have to take a cab to go to dinner.

I worked on St. Thomas for over a month a few years ago and found the Wyndham a good place to stay or the Bolongo Bay Hotel. Both are minutes from Red Hook. Or you could also try Point Pleasant. This one is right next to Wyndham Sugar Bay.
