Hi Shhhh...
Glad you enjoyed my report! I'd say out of all the islands we've been to, St. Martin has the most to do (not to mention all the day trips you can do to the neighboring islands).

St. Lucia is gorgeous, and there is plenty to do there as well to keep you busy for a week. My trip report from there is here, although it's more about where we stayed:
http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserR..._St_Lucia.html

I can't believe it was so long ago now (2004)! St. Lucia offers plenty-I hear they now have a ziplining course like St. Martin, they have horseback riding through old sugar mill plantations, plenty of mountain biking trails, a drive through volcano, botanical gardens, you can hike the gross and pitet pitons, there are rainforest hikes, boat trips, black sand beaches, decent snorkeling, a pineapple farm tour, shopping (in Castries), day trips to the grenadines (by small plane), Anse La Raye fridy night fish fry, and I'm sure there are more activities that I'm not aware of that have come up in the last 7 years. We stayed on the southern part of the island by the Pitons which I highly recommend. It's much less built up than the northern end, and much more mountainous and lush. Think Kauai, HI, if you've ever been. I highly recommend it.

We also loved St. John and Virgin Gorda (and the surrounding day trip islands). Those are more of a hiking/boating/beaching type of destination though IMO. With that being said, St. John is probably my favorite island and I would move there in a heartbeat if I could!

St. Martin is so wonderful because, well One, the food! Two, I love the French culture on the French side, and Three, there are just so many different things to do there! I don't think I could ever tire of it! It's the only island we've returned to (although we're thinking of going back to St. John next year).

Next up for us: Provo in August. I'm not sure if it has as much as St. Martin for things to do, but I'll be sure to write a trip report upon our return!

Hi kellybeaches,

Thank you for your input. I appreciate it. I have been to Hawaii but not to Kauai. I had a great time in Hawaii (Maui and Oahu) but would not go back.

Now the research begins. I always like going somewhere knew because life flies by and I don't want to miss a single thing. My boyfriend really wants to go back to St. Martin but he leaves it up to me. If we go back to St Martin we will stay at Grand Case, do a trip to Pinel Island and go to Anguilla for a couple of nights.

By the way I did do the Rhino tour. We loved it although I was holding on for dear life as my boyfriend thought the faster the better..lol!

Kellybeaches, have you been to Aruba or Puerto Rico? We found there was so much to do in both places, and great restaurant choices, or just chillin on the beach! I'm wondering how our April trip to St Maarten will compare?! Love to sit on the beach, but can't last more than 3 - 4 hours!

Orient Beach -it's arguably the best (and longest) beach on the island, with plenty of water sports activity, and a wide choice of beach bar / restaurants.

shhh- too funny you did the Rhino tour. Someday I will do that!!!

whammy-I haven't been to Aruba or PR. Maybe someday, although they're probably at the bottom of our to do list. We have Provo lined up for August, and then I think we're heading back to St. John next year. So many islands, so little time!

Loretta-I agree with David. If you're just going for 1 day, then check out Orient. We really enjoyed Kontiki. Boo Boo Jam was great too, but those 2 restaurants are on opposite ends of the beach, and Kontiki is more in the heart of the action.

virginia -we do. We're all booked. Staying at Crystal Sands on Sapodilla for a week, and one night at The Sands on Grace Bay. We really liked Villa Mirabelle on Sapodilla but someone jumped in and rented it for the whole month of August just as we were about to book it! Crystal Sands looks nice too though! We're planning on a day trip out on Caicos Dream Tour, and a 1/2 day w/Provo Ponies. Any other suggestions? I thought the conch farm might be neat for our kids to see too. And of course we'll check out Grace Bay too.

About the 2nd set of pics, I accidentally deleted that album. My bad! If you want to see them, give me over the weekend and I'll put them back up.

Do you have any trips coming up?

Great trip report & photos, thanks for sharing! I have been really undecided on a destination while trying to plan a trip for me & my husband this spring but you may have sold me on St. Martin. We have loved our visits to St. John but wanted to try something new and St. M seemed like an easy trip from NYC area. I'll explore more of your suggestions but feel free to share any further tips for a 1st time visit!
