St. Martin Bound...now what?

My fiance and I were given a week of a timeshare in St. Martin for mid-April. We had originally thought we would be able to go to St. John, but found no availabilities. I know the two islands are different in most aspects, but I need some help wrapping my mind around our new destination after so much time planning for St. John. It's a hard life right ;)
We are looking for day trips, activities and secluded beaches... this is our honeymoon you know. Oh yea, and we are staying at the Pelican Bay Resort. Any suggestions or experieces would be greatly appreciated. I've had great responses in the past, so I can't wait to hear what you have for me this time! Thanks in advance.

Hi -- we just returned from St. Martin. You have an amazing week ahead of you! As I have posted earlier, it's quite easy to 'island hop' from St. Martin. We spent 4 days on St. Martin, and 3 on Anguilla, though you could certainly take a day trip there. I'd suggest you hop in a cab and go the beach at the Ku Hotel in East Shoal Bay. It's spectacular!

But back to St. Martin, we found an amazing beach, Happy Bay. Go to Friar's Bay, then it's about a 10 minute walk/hike over to Happy Bay. Private, serene and just perfect. Keep in mind you cannot buy food/drinks there, so pick up a snack at Kali's in Friar's Bay first!

Check out the travel board at Trip Advisor -- lots of St Martin travelers there. Really helped us get our trip organized!

have fun!

Thanks, that's great advice...can't wait to visit that beach. What is the typical cost for a trip to another island or can you rent a boat?

The name of the beach in Anguilla is Shoal Bay East. The ferry leaves from Marigot on the French side every 1/2 hour during daylight hours & costs $12 plus departure tax ($3 from SXM/$5 from Anguilla). Get a cab at the port & you are good to go.

Alicat25-
You have to go to Anguilla. It is the best. As other posters have mentioned, just ferry over. It will cost you 12 each.
My recommendation for beaches once there is Rendezvous Bay. It's about a mile stretch of the most pristine sand you have ever seen-and the most beautiful water you have ever seen. You won't find many people on this beach, which continues to surprise us. We always stay at the Cuisinart on this beach and you can stop off at their neat beach bar for a cold beverage. You are also allowed to have lunch at their restaurant there by the pool without being a guest. It would be a nice lunch spot. The resort has a hydophonic farm and grows all its own fruit and vegtables. You won't find better veggies anywhere. This would be a wonderful day trip for you guys. Anguilla is very, very different from St. Martin. Much slower, relaxed pace.

Have a great time!!!!
