hi Statia
I just came back on island from a 3 week vacation.
We went through immigration with our Dutch passports.
I smiled and said "Good Afternoon".
not a smile nor a response in return.
no "welcome home"
It's hard not to get really angry but what are you gonna do?
it is what it is, but I hate it.

"You MUST be pushy".. well, that tells a lot about your problem. And to bring up the Halloway stuff again - when you're posting about airport delays at SXM Calling posters "rude schmucks". "(name calling) is a well-respected literary device with a long and glorious tradition...especially when it is so richly deserved, you uptight shmedrik." You really need a valium. Perhaps that will get you thought SXM in a better mood. It has been an established fact that SXM is a difficult airport. We fly to SXM for the day to shop. Sometimes just to grocery shop for hard to get items on St.Kitts/Nevis. SXM is a hurry-up-and-wait airport. If you know the frustration, work with it. If you have to check in 2 hours before your flight don't check in 1 hour and 58 minutes before. The inter-island planes are flying busses. They have problems and delays hopping from island to island. Deal with it. Now that you have first hand experience with SXM you will be able to avoid the same problems the next time you go through.

Hi Barbara. Glad to hear that it's not just those of us who are not St. Maarteners. Yes...I agree...what are we going to do? Just grin and bear it.

It's a shame that it can be such a turnoff to so many people who visit the island, though. Especially considering that is not the attitude of most of the islanders.

Based on my personal experience (& I've only been through the new SXM on two trips) Antigua is much worse. Most of our problems have been Win-Air related though.
