St. Maarten vs. Dominican Republic
Hi all,
I am looking into options for a girl's weekend in May using a timeshare. We have the option of the Guana Bay Beach resort in Philipsburg, St. Maarten or the Victorian House in Sosua, Dominican Republic. We're not looking for anything crazy, but don't want to be in a prime honeymoon location, either. We're looking for some good chill time and some fun, low key beach bars and restaurants. I'd appreciate any information you can provide on either location or even on the resorts, if you're familiar with them. It seems that Punta Cana is a big spot in DR, but would Sasua be a fun place to go? In St. Maarten, is one side better than the other (Dutch vs. French)? Thanks in advance! |
I've had a girl's week at the Guana Bay Beach Resort and we had a blast! St. Maarten is a fantastic place. The resort is fairly small but the units are a nice size. We had 5 staying in a two-bedroom unit. Small pool appropriate for the size of the property. Very, very quiet when we've been there. You will definitely need a car as it is off the beaten track. There were no beach bars or restaurants within walking distance when we were there -- but that was 5 years ago. Hope that helps.

Thank you for the response ... that's great information to know!

If you are looking for a great, low key place with lots to do, go to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. It is a great place. Stay close to town. Great shopping, bars and just fund. I love it. There are many timeshares in Cabo.
