St. Maarten Honeymoon??
 

Any thoughts on Honeymooning in St. Maarten?

IMO, why go there...go to St. Barth's instead, just an 8 minute extra puddle jumper flight at the end. The ocean in StM looks beautiful but it is very built up and even industrialized around the airport.

I wouldn't do it. While it is a nice island, there isn't really much to do there and the traffic is terrible. There isn't any of those all inclusive resorts either.<BR><BR>I just came back from Jamaica - couples negril and we loved it. It's an all inclusive right on the beach. Check out caribbean-on-line for my review - or for that matter other reviews of resorts inthe caribbeen.

But if you could provide some informtaion on other things you are interested in, some more specific answers can be given.<BR><BR>As for AI, if that's what you would like, then no SXM isn't the best choice. They are good, but you can do better elsewhere. If you want a small romantic place to stay, one can be found. Maybe even going toward renting a villa depending on when the honeymoon is.

Do a combo trip,SXM and St Barts.Spend first 2 and last 2 days in sxm and the rest in St Barts.St Barts is a special place,no grubbing scumbags trying to sell you gangi,or braid your hair.You can go anywhere and not worry about it.Great beaches not crowded,perfect for honeymoon.SXM is island major airlines land.Ferry over after spending a couple of days in SXM.SXM aint bad for night life(Maho)casinos etc,but St BARTS is in a class by itself.

Of the few islands I have been to, St. Maarten/St. Martin is my favorite. Very fun island. Resort suggestions: Le Meridien, Esmeralda, and Alamanda are worth checking out.<BR>

If you spend some days on St. Maarten and then go to St. Barth's, you will kick yourself for having wasted time on St. Maarten. Just go straight to St. Barth's and have the time of your life.

Liz - how much of St. Maarten did you really see. When were you there, how long after the 1995 &amp; 98 hurricanes that wiped out the island. When you say industry, what area you referring to? Why so negative regarding St. Maarten, where did you stay, what beaches did you go to, what restaurants did you eat at. I not attacking just curious as to what exactly you didn't like about the island.

Other suggestions for a honeymoon spot?? We want some activities, and relaxation. No Jamaica, however.

st barts will be extremely romantic, cannot be beat. our required overnite in st martn was more $$ than our wonderful st bart accomdn, it was just horrible
