St. Lucia Question About Hotels and Pitons
My mother in law can give us a free week at the Marlin Quay which is around Castries. Is it worth it to stay so far away from the Pitons or should we book something closer like the Hummingbird or Anse Chastanet?

Take the free week and do some day trips to the Pitons area. You could even book a night or two at Hummingbird or Anse Chastanet.

Lots to see on St. Lucia and nothing wrong with being based near Castries.

I agree with ScubaMom. You don't HAVE to be near the Pitons. We weren't. We just did a jeep tour to see them. It was wonderful.
St. Lucia has a lot to offer in addition to the Pitons.

There's actually more to do in the area around Castries. I agree with the other posters who say, Stay at Marlin Quay and do an excursion to the Pitons.

If you decided to stay for a couple nights near the pitons, check out
The Stonefield Estate: www.stonefieldvillas.com

It's way cheaper than Anse Chastenet, the view is apparently as good or better, and the cottages look (and reportedly are) fantastic. I chose this property for my honeymoon in August after exhaustive research. Most travel guides list it as "the best kept secret" on the island--a tired cliche to be sure, but worth mentioning nonetheless.

Have a great trip!
