St. Lucia - Passport?

My fiance and I will be spending our honeymoon in St. Lucia in August at Ti Kaye. We are US Citizens and wanted to know if we needed current US Passports to enter (and leave) St. Lucia or if other documentation was sufficient. Thanks very much for any help you can offer.

Even if you don't need one now, a lot can happen in a matter of weeks. French St. Martin very recently announced that passports are required as of July 1, 2005. Not much notice, at all.

You have time to get one for August, they are running about 4 weeks now, and you can pay for expedited service to get it faster. Its easy enough I would just get it. I just got one for my daughter (when she was only 6 months old) because as of Dec. she will need one anyway.

I also highly recomend having one-----they are recognizable and it expedites things in my opinion in general. It is also required for day trips to other places and good if you have problems in general.

We had passports when we visited St. Lucia in 1993. It does make things much easier than birth certificates, etc. If you're still hesitant about getting passports, check with the St. Lucia tourism office--they have a New York City office and your can get the phone numbers over the internet.
