Donna,
I agree completely! We have split our time between Hilton Jalousie and Ladera before and we probably will in the future. I also agree that the experience of these two properties (especially Ladera, IMHO) is primary!
Splitting the time would work really well in a couple with differing priorities, that way each gets what they need.
Ladera is "wildly romantic" isn't it?!!!

I agree, hubby would spend a week or more at Ladera no problem!!! I guess he had no need for the cozy comfy thing. LOL Can't wait to get back.

Hi,
I hope it's not too late to reply, but I just found this sight. We've stayed at the Sandals Antigua and the Sandals Grande St. Lucian (the newest on the island). It was converted from the bankrupted Hyatt. It is an absolutely gorgeous property and the staff were the best ever. We absolutely loved it so much, that we chose to leave the property only once the whole time we were there, and that was to visit the French restaurant on the Golf Resort. That was a big disappointment. I don't think you'll be unhappy if you choose the Grande St. Lucian. Best wishes on your upcoming marriage.

Hi

I spent my honeymoon on St. Luica in 2000 staying 5 nights at Ladera. WE thought it was sheer heaven on earth. WE thought it was the most romantic place for a honeymoon in the Caribbean. We also spent 3 nights at the Hyatt (now the new Sandals resort). It was very very nice too. It is on Pigeon Isand which is cool! I have pictures showing both resorts at and a full trip report at www.seashelltravel.com. If you have any questions after reading the report and looking at the pictures just email me at [email protected].

Kay

Hi! I agree with pretty much everyones thoughts regarding Ladera & Jalousie. I spent a week at the Jalousie with my family in April 2002. I can honestly say it was one of the best vacation I have experienced. We chose the Jalousie because it fit our criteria the best. Lots to do and see on that part of the island...much more scenic than the North....you can't beat those Pitons! Went on several tours...both land and sea. We especially loved the open air jeep tour into the rain forest where we hiked to a water fall, swam, and hiked back. Fabulous!! We experienced the fine cuisine at Ladera and Anse Chastenet, as well as the views from there. We loved the food, our accommodations, the beach, snorkling, etc. etc. at the Jalousie. Jalousie even has helicopter transport to/from the airport. Taxi ride from the airport is about 1-1/2 hours. I can go on and on. Where ever you end up I'm sure you will love it. Everyone has their own criteria...just go with it!
