St Lucia in February

Can anyone give us advice as to where is best to stay in St Lucia? We would like a small hotel with wonderful views from the room so that we can paint watercolours from our balcony. We love to walk so nearby hiking trails are essential. Good food is also a requirement.

Lots of places meet that description. What, in terms of actual dollars, is your budget for accommodations? Do you require a beachfront property or are you OK with something further inland or even up on the mountainside? Are you planning to venture off hotel property for activities other than hiking? Will you be renting a car during your stay?

Tikaye is really lovely, but remote. Good food, gorgeous location.

We will rent a car for a few days to see more of the island. Our budget will cover 4/5 star hotel if necessary but we prefer small hotels - less than 50 rooms. A nearby beach would be nice.

The roads in St. Lucia are not the best. Are you sure you want to drive around the island?

Check out Ladera, Anse Chastenet and Jade Mountain - all have some fantastic views.

Do a bit more research about driving around St. Lucia - it's a very mountainous island, many of the roads are quite narrow, with steep grades and significant drop-offs - driving can be intimidating for some.

I rent a car in St Lucia from the airport straight off the flight, the narrow winding roads are not that bad but can understand for some it might be intimidating if they havenít driven in the Caribbean before.

Having checked out the suggested hotels and their availability, I think we will book Anse Chastenet and maybe do an organised trip to see a bit more of the island. Thanks everyone for your advice.

Anse Chastanet is beautiful, the beach is really nice with a marine reserve. Itís a great choice.
