St. Lucia Helicopter Rides to Grande St. Lucian Sandals Resort
Hello,
I'm looking for information about taking the helicopter service from the Hawannora (sp?)
airport to the Sandals Grand St. Lucian resort. Has anyone done this and if so, is it worth the cost? Are any carriers recommended over others? ANY help will be
greatly appreciated....it's our first trip to the Caribbean and we're taking a big chance
as we've never done a trip like this. Thank you to anyone who is kind enough to respond!

We scheduled a service and scenic tour with St. Lucia Helicopters. Did it all over the Internet. They were very professional and very prompt with answering my e-mails and confirming the service. I would highly recommend them as they were recommended to me.
Unfortunately, we were unable to use their service since we were delayed for several hours and didn't arrive until 1:00 a.m.
There is (or was when we went) one other service provider on the island but SLH had a more user friendly website (listing the rates, contact info., etc.) which is another reason I chose them.

I would also like to add that the helicopter shuttle with scenic tour was recommended to me as an awesome way to see the island. However, I didn't mind the 1-1/2 hour taxi ride. The taxi ride back was in the daylight and we got the see a lot of the island landscapes. The chopper would have been better but I didn't think the road route was half as bad as what everyone said it was prior to my leaving.
I believe the shuttle with scenic tour was $100 per person and took about 20 or 30 minutes. You can get a straight shuttle without the tour but it seems to me the tour wasn't much more so we had opted for that.

Carla, I just booked a flight with helicopter service. Here is their phone#758-453-6950. We were at golf& Spa last new year,it is a long ride. We didn't know about the helicopter then. It's worth the $90. each way. It is a 10-12 min. ride to the other airport then a 15-20min. to the Grande. We are going the 13th of Jan. Hope this helps.

I have been searching the St. Lucia
Helicopters website and you do not get
to bring your luggage on the helicopter
with you (gulp!) and it says on the
site that they ship your bags to the
resort. I'm wondering how reliable that
service is and how long after you arrive
do your bags??? Has anyone done this
or experienced timely (or untimely) bag
delivery? I think this forum is great
for communicating with other travelers
who can help each other out. Thank you
to everyone kind enough to reply. I've
never been in a helicopter before so I
am both nervous and excited.

If I remember correctly, the baggage was to be taken to where you're staying by car, I believe by SLH staff. It was to leave around the same time as the chopper and was to arrive about an hour or so later (the same amount of time as if you, yourself were to travel via taxi.

Hi Carla,
We took a helicopter transfer from the southern airport to the Hilton, which is halfway up the island. The cost for that was US $80.00 per person. The company met us at the airport and basically took care of us until we reached our hotel. They are very well organized and have a website where you can book your flight and get information [St. Lucia Helicopters Ltd. [st[email protected]]. I highly recommend them. Good luck!
