St.Lucia - Don't want to miss anything!!
 

Hello fellow travelers,
My husband and I recently had a baby and will be getting away for the first time in the beginning of May 2016 (baby will be 6 months). We plan on visiting St.Lucia for 5 days. We want a mix of relaxing and adventurous for this getaway. I know 5 days is a short amount of time so I don't want to miss anything that is a must-see!!

For those of you who have been to St.Lucia, please advise on what to see. I would like to start building a rough itinerary. We are young (mid-twenties) so we like to have fun (maybe an adult only hotel with some entertainment), but nothing crazy - no nightclubs or anything. We LOVE great food. I enjoy a nice beach but it isn't vital if there is a nice pool. It would make things easier if it was an all-inclusive but, also, not a must.

Does the five days include travel days? Because then you're really talking a little over three days unless you have great flights.

Anyway, one easy way to see sights efficiently is to go with a water taxi tour. We used Solomon's Water Taxi and had a great time going to the mudbaths, waterfall, Sugar Beach and other snorkeling stops. I highly recommend them (and I think they're #1 ranked on TA).

Thanks Jimmie, that's an awesome idea! Unfortunately, it does include flights but it seems like we will be catching the direct flight via Jetblue (so flight time should be around 4 hrs).

Are there any must sees? Mudbath sounds nice, I didn't know they had that.

Are you staying in the northern or southern part of the island?

Some of the hotels I am looking at are in the Southern part but I am still open to switching. Which side would you recommend?

I think the southern part is what is unique about St. Lucia. Lush and tropical in a way that I haven't seen on other islands.

We took a fun catamaran tour...music, drinks, etc. Seeing the Pitons from the water is a must.

As a young couple I suggest staying in the Rodney Bay area where there are some great restaurants. As someone suggested you can always take the catamaran or other boat tour to the Soufriere area so that you will have at least a taste of variety, including the mud bath. Louis 1VX, King of France built baths there (see the award winning Botanical Gardens) for his troops because of the medicinal qualities of the water exiting the volcano.

Consider returning for a longer stay in a few years.

If you are active and fit, hiring a guide and hiking to the top of the Gros Piton is pretty amazing. We did that on one of our visits to St Lucia a few years back and it's one of the most memorable parts of our visit.

We absolutely loved http://www.fonddouxestate.com/ near Soufriere. Wonderful individual cottages, flowers and fruit trees (and cacao!), trails for hiking and a great pool! The family that owns it is terrific, too.
