St. Lucia anyone?
My husband and I are looking to go to St. Lucia in late July for a romantic getaway. I am a beach lover while he loves the mountains. I would like to try zip lining during our stay in St. Lucia and also do a little hiking, but would also like to spend our days mostly on the beach. Any recommendations for a romantic vacation spot in St. Lucia? Any places you recommend we stay?

what is your budget per night for lodging?
have friends who own at windjammer landing. they love it. if budget is high look at ladera and Anse Chastanet. |
I liked the look of Ti Kaye
http://www.tikaye.com/ I enjoyed horse riding in St. Lucia more than zip lining. You can check out my trip report on this link. http://www.fodors.com/community/cari...a-295173-2.cfm |
Hi Virginia. Ladera looks really nice but I'm concerned about not having a 4th wall? How are mosquitos, bugs, etc.? How far is the beach access? Thanks

My husband and I stayed at Sandals Regency. It is up in the cliffs and we had an amazing time. I also agree with sassycat about horseback riding. We did that excursion as well along the beach and it was very romantic.

cdiva, i have not had the pleasure of staying at ladera. have read numerous reviews here on fodors. i think it depends on you - no there are not a plethora of bugs, but one visitor complained that the occasional bird flew in. for me that would be an extraordinary treat for her it was not.
this thread might be useful: http://www.fodors.com/community/cari...neymoon.cfm?25 also change to just st.lucia in the drop down above and then type ladera into the search box for numerous resort specific threads. |
some nice spots near the Pitons, hiking, waterfalls, gardens, volcano in the Soufriere area include, Anse Chastanet, Stoneield Villas, La Haute, Jalousie Plantation and Ti Kaye Village. Check my site for a lot of specific info on St Lucia http://www.examiner.com/x-1092-Carib...ravel-Examiner

Ladera is spectacularly beautiful but very expensive. It is the place Operah said you have to see before you die. At lunch a wild bird chose to sit on the rim of my wife's drink and peck at the piece of fruit. Anse Chastnet is gorgeous and also very expensive, the best snorkeling spot we've been to in our lives. If you don't have money to burn you might consider staying in a top floor suite at the Villa Beach Cottages at Choc Beach just Northeast of the Castries airport. You get a beautiful places with a huge private deck right on the beach with panoramic ocean views. It has received numerous awards, guests tend to love it. Rent a Jeep to drive around, some areas of the island are quite hilly.
