St. Lucia and its activities

I had read somewhere that you could ride a zip line through the rainforest here.
Has any one done this? where? is it worth it? Any other must do activities? Or has anyone done the zip line somewhere else?
Place to stay? eat? thank you all

We did not do the zip lines, but we did do the land and sea tour and the full Island tour. Try this site for available tours in St. Lucia. www.sunlinktours.com

If you have to get anywhere, besides on foot, if you go through Castries, the traffic is terrible. Give yourself enough time to get around to places, if you go on your own.

Just returned last night from St Lucia....LOVED IT!!! Did the zipline and I'm past 60 so it's not just for the young, altho I did feel my core muscles the next day. It costs $70 US if you just want to ride the tram to the top & back down - no hiking or footwork involved....and $85 if you want to do the zipline. The guides are very informative on flora & fauna and can answer most any question about the island. Takes about a half hour to get to the top...and you ride 11 zip lines....WHAT A HOOT!!! There is some hiking to & from the ziplines but quite do-able. We used local buses for the first week and then got a car.....stayed in Rodney Bay area so we were right in the heart of things. Yes, traffic can be bad in Castries during rush hour but it's not unbearable and the town isn't all that big. We didn't climb the Pitons but did climb both points at Pidgeon Island....fantastic views & there's a great bar/restaurant over there that we really enjoyed. Did the drive in volcano...really just a walk in but very interesting if you can handle the sulpher smell. We stayed at www.caribbeanjewelresort.com and I would highly recommend it.....had a full kitchen and it was quite convenient...the price was great. What else can I tell you??? We loved it!!!

Sounds like you had a great time! Thanks for the info. How did you get the zip line tour? We were thinking of staying in 2 different places, to see the island do you think that is a good idea or is the travelling easy enough. How was the bus travelling?

My favorite way to get around St. Lucia is via water taxis. Beautiful views, no traffic, no pot-holed roads and you can stop to snorkle along the way.

To see things in the interior of the island we took a private tour arranged by the hotel.

The ziplining looks fun.

St Lucia was quite green in March. We did the couples private island tour with Serenity Tours and can highly recommend this tour if you want to treat your mate to something private. Our driver was Maurice in a new luxury mini van. We had a refrigerator filled with our choice drinks all to ourselves. Maurice ensured that we were kept away from the cruise crowd and the nagging vendors. At the Beacon restaurant we had a private buffet set just for us with local flowers, decorating our buffet table. The entire day was just awesome. Got about 15 minutes of rain, but that did not affect the tour. All in all it was the best day of the cruise. I highly recommend Serenity Tours. You can call them toll free or visit their website www.serenitytvl.com and 866 766 0794. Dorothy

If you are staying in Rodney Bay, you can walk to restaurants and arrange tours to see the island, so there is no need to rent a car. If you are staying anywhere else on the island, I would recommend renting a car (unless you are totally freaked out by driving on the left).
Regarding traffic -- the traffic in downtown Castries is much worse in December - March when there are a lot of cruise ships in town than at other times of year. If you are staying in the northern part of the island, the rush hour traffic to Castries between 7 and 9 is very bad, as is the traffic back north from Castries from 4-6 or so.

We also did a zipline in St Lucia, in Dennery. Here is a link. http://www.adventuretoursstlucia.com...adventure.html

We loved it - it was a very fun outing. We were staying at Jade Mountain, so it was a 30 minute water taxi and an hour drive, but scenic all the way.

Zipling it great! If you go on Youtube and search for Lucia and Zipline you will find tons of videos.

Hi the zip lines are a must do if you are adventurous. I think you will love it or perhaps the ATV. While we were in St.Lucia we also did a totally private tour through serenity tours called the cruisers exclusive. See www.serenitytvl.com for more details. Also if you book your accommodation through them you get discounted on all your tours.

The island is stunning. Quite lush with friendly people. Just to many vendors at tourist stops.
