St Lucia and Bug bites

I was just in St Lucia and had a good time overall versus the Resort lock down at the Mystique Royalton. This is to be expected with Covid. Staff were nice. The bugs ate me alive on my feet and ankles mostly. I had a few arm bites and a few leg bites but mostly feet area. I had insect repellent but was in and out of the pool frequently. My girlfriend hardly got bit. I have red bites that are ike the size of a quarter.. Anyone else experience this?

The tropics are full of insects that bite. They like "new blood". Many of the bites cause an allergic reaction, but not all are subject to this. You have to spray DEET (Off) again after you get wet...
