St John - Westin or villa?

Hi - we are getting ready for our 4th trip to St John this October. It will be my husband, 2 kids (9 and 7) and me.

We currently have a reservation for the Westin...one of the studio villas. We've never stayed at the Westin before so I'm curious what others think about it compared to some of the other options. We've previously stayed in a private villa (Balance on Fish Bay), in one half of a 2-unit villa (Windcrest Villa) and Maho Bay Camps. I know there is a big difference between Maho Bay and Balance Villa. Anyway, I'm kind of interested to "try" a new place like the Westin however, I'll be honest, I don't want my kids to be so excited over all the activities at the Westin that they never want to leave. We are big, get-out-and-explore people (well, at least my husband and I, haha) and I know the beach at the Westin is not the best one on the island.

Also, curious if anyone's stayed in a studio villa (or knows what they're like)? Are they across the street from the pool? Any feedback is appreciated!!!

picked one up for $80 on betterbidding.com

as SPG.com got a suite/villa upgrade

so never actually stayed there looked nice though

booking.com recent honest reviews on the Westin

might join SPG.com for free perks upgrades if available

Beach is no caneelbay.com or Trunk Bay but ok.

Closer to town for me I like the Westin best value usually.

My husband and I used to stay half at the Westin and Caneel each time we visited St. John. We started to go the villa route last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. The Westin is nice as far as having the amenities, etc.

You can check out some reviews I did while we were there:

Any other questions concerning the Westin, I'd be happy to help!
