St. John vs Maui
 

Would like an objective opinion as to the best destination. We like great beaches and snorkeling from the beach. Must be kid-friendly. We have been to St. John and loved it. Even liked the Westin!

why not the westin in grand caymen-some of the best off beach snorkling

We LOVE SJ and we LOVE Maui. Maui has the best snorkeling from the beach that we have ever encountered. On Maui, we would suggest the Grand Wailea as a GREAT kid friendly resort(maybe the best anywhere), but if you are going from the East coast, try to stay 10 days if possible(it will make the travel time more palatable). And in spite of alot of people on this board, we LIKE the Westin on SJ, too.

Since you've already been to St. John, why not try Maui? (assuming the flight time isn't a problem)

If you've been to St. John and the Westin and loved them both, then I would avoid Maui because it would be far too UPSCALE for someone like you!!
