St John villa location
Looking to rent a villa for our family vacation and want to be sure that I pick the side of St John that will allow nice white sand beach without too choppy waters. North, East, South or West? Before I get beat up by the critics I understand that we can easily drive to the type of beach we are looking for and will - but also desire to be staying near one. Thanks!

When researching villas, pick one that says "close to North Shore beaches". The south side of St John, Reef Bay, Hart Bay and Chocolate Hole area are not going to be the type of beach you are looking for. The water is choppy on this side. The East end of the island has nice snorkeling beaches but not the nice sandy ones you are looking for.

A location to consider is the Bordeax/Ajax Mountain area. Fantastic views and close to the North Shore beaches. Somewhat of a neutral location in terms of beach travel. You can also easily reach Salt Pond Bay and Little Lameshur from here.

Thank you for the information. I have learned in the past to ask about the ocean conditions around an island because it really can vary. In researching St John I really don't see much in the area I need to be looking in that has direct access to a beach from the villa. Hubby is real bent on being on the beach or on a higher cliff with a usable path down...

Wow! Gibney villas look wonderful. Unfortunately I need to sleep 6 and have a budget of $3500.

I posted three links under St. John (s) Villa Help! Should be able to find something in your budget there. Tell hubby that's what you rent 'jeeps' for, to drive to the beach. |
