St John's to Jost Van Dyke
Any suggestions on taking a day trip from St. John's over to JVD? We'd love recommendations on an outfit to use, etc.
We'll have two little ones with us... is that doable? Thanks in advance! |

We vacationed in Tortola in December and took a water taxi ride from Soper's Hole Marina West End Tortola (not Road Town marinas) to Jost Van Dyke. It seemed to be about a 15 min. ride. You could refer to britishvirginislands.com (british virgin islands) for daysail information or take the ferry from St. Thomas to West End (45 mins) and then take the water taxi. It seems to be a bit much though if you have 2 small children.

There is a ferry from St John that runs on Friday, Saturday and Sundays departing at 8:30am with a return at 3:00pm from JVD. The cost is approximately $40. per person. Not sure how much for children. You could look into boat charters/daysails over to JVD. They stop at other places such as the Baths in Virgin Gorda. Not sure how old your little ones are but if they are very young, safety and is the cost worth the trip for them would be a concern. check out www.bookitvi.com for additional info on daysails.

I recommend Capt. Phil - the Wayward Sailor. He is fantastic! Number is 340-776-6922

Thank you all for your input. Our children are 2 1/2 and 3 3/4, so perhaps not the best idea to bring them this time. They are great on boats (no sea sickness, understand need for life jackets, etc.), but may be too much... I'll let you know what we decide!
