St Lucia Hotel: Discovery at Marigot or Coco Palms

JetBlue is offering some great packages to St Lucia and my husband and I are looking to book a 5 night getaway in December. The two hotels that are in our price range are the Discovery at Marigot Bay and Coco Palms. Any thoughts on either of these? They are obviously in two completely different areas. But, never having been to St Lucia, I don't know which area is more desirable.

Update: We booked the Discovery at Marigot. The price via JetBlue was too good to pass up.

Hi kcapuani, the resorts are in very different locations. I'd suggest a car if you're staying in Marigot as it's very out of the way and taxis are expensive.

Coco Palms is set in Rodney Bay the busiest touristy part of the island with restaurants etc very nearby.

Marigot is more of a local town/area. It will be quieter and it sounds like it has great views but lots of steps. I've been to Marigot but not the resort.

For beaches/snorkeling you would be best off driving to Ti Kaye or another resort (Anse Chastanet maybe) or taking a taxi/water taxi which would probably work out more expensive if you did this more than twice during your stay.

Glad to hear it. Discovery Bay is beautiful! I've stayed at Coco Palms....not on the ocean....while the hotel was good for an overnight...I wouldn't spend VC there.....

do use the water taxis - much more pleasant than land taxis to get to good snorkeling at anse chastenet & jalousie.
