St. John in early July??
 

I'm "considering" a trip to St. John in July While the accomodation rates are great, I'm concerned as to the hot weather. Is it unbearable?? Should I just hold out till a better time??

rattler-Go to the St.John website and check out the avg. temp for July.I really do not think that it is hotter than maybe 85degrees..however just check it out.

Go to www.stjohnusvi.com and maybe they will have something.My family and I are going in early June and read that the temp would be around 82 degrees (if I remember right?)

Hi again, I just went to a website and found out that the average summer temp. is 82.5 in St John, so that is not bad.

Well, yes, it may be 82 degrees, but it's still hot. That sun is *strong*, but you can still have a fun time. I would recommend a couple of things to make it easier:
1) AC in the bedrooms. Yes, there are "cooling tropical breezes" at places with some altitude, but if you need it a little bit cool to sleep, get AC.
2) If you can manage it, a pool really helps for a cooling afternoon dip after the beach.
3) "Town" is always hotter. The heat can be manageable on other parts of the island, but in more dense places it cab feel much worse. This is much more true on STT than STJ.

4) Goes without saying -- lots of sunblock and cold water. And a hat.

We've gone in late June, late July, and early August and always had a great time.

The weather temp down there does not change that much throughout the year and there is always a nice breeze. We go in early august and it is usually beautiful

Most Caribbean islands have little fluctuation in temperature between the winter and summer months. That said, I've always found the temperature to be hotter in the summer than the published averages--more like 88-90 fahrenheit--for islands in the BVI to St. Lucia range.

Yes, it's hot, and yes, it's humid, but with the constant breezes it's much more comfortable there than in most of the US during the summer months. Having lived in the midwest, the deep south, the mid-atlantic and now New England, I can say that I would MUCH rather be in the Caribbean during the summer than the places I've previously lived or currently live.
