St John Fever, cont.

We're holding Second Wind - believe it may be on the south shore. Any knowledge about the villa would be helpful. I'm thinking we could take the road that cuts across the Island rather than go through Cruz Bay to get to the North Shore beaches - end up around Maho. For those who know the roads, does this make sense? Thanks.

It's easy to cut across from Centerline road to North Shore road right at Francis Bay area. We always stay in Coral Bay and it is absolutely not necessary to drive back to Cruz Bay to get to the North Shore beaches.

Where is Second Wind Located? In Coral Bay area or further south? Beyond Salt Pond Bay?

No worries...many of us on this board have D.I.F. for STJ. Trish

tpatricco,
Second Wind is in the Reef Bay area. So it actually may be too far from the road that goes through the center of the island. Someone suggested that we would have to go through Cruz Bay to get to the North Shore.

I would think that you could use the Gifft Hill road to access Centerline and then make your way to the North Shore road by the smoothie stand. Sorry, I dont know the road names. If you are renting through Caribbean Villas, they have a map that shows where all the villas are, so it looks to me like you'd be be able bypass Cruz Bay.

Ditto the Gifft Hill cut through to get to Centerline Road. To get to Reef Bay area, you'll probably be traveling the south shore road which takes you past the Westin, and the lefthand continuation of this road at a fork of which you'd take the right hand continuation to get to Reef Bay. I.E., you won't have to go all the way back to Cruz Bay. It's about 5-7 minutes on the cut through, and maybe about 7-9 minutes on Centerline to get to the lefthand turn to take you to the north shore area, about 3-5 minutes to reach the first north shore beach, Maho. It's a very pretty drive so I doubt you'll mind the 15-20 minute drive.
